The People of ArmathosGEORGE LOULIS
A wine that reaches far and brings people closer. This is the wine I envisioned.
Our Estate is located in Arma, Boeotia, a blessed place.
As an engineer by profession, seeking space to expand my construction business, I found myself in the village of Boeotia from Athens and discovered an entirely new world that disarmed me. It awakened emotions and moved me.
Thus, in 2000, my passion for nature brought a new love into my life: cultivating the land. Specifically, I planted a 17-acre vineyard around my work and home.
Initially, I cultivated the red, French variety Merlot, having been captivated by its taste for years. Then came the winemaking, in a way I would describe as emotional. My goal was not financial profit, but personal satisfaction.
Influenced by the Garagiste movement that emerged in France in 1980, which promotes small production wines with minimal equipment—hence called “garage wines”—I began producing wines experimentally in my backyard.
As time passed, I saw my hobby building a new world that I had not dared to imagine. My wines. The creation of my humble love for water and soil.
Almost two decades later, my winery in Arma, Boeotia, which bears my name, produces rosé, fresh red, and aged wines, with organic cultivation and winemaking.
Armathos is my philosophy for life. It is a way to tell it that I love it and will honor it.
